Today marks 20 years since Hurricane Katrina forever changed New Orleans and the lives of our Dillard University family. As we honor those we lost and reflect on our community’s strength, we share stories and coverage that highlight Dillard’s journey, resilience, and continued commitment to education and service.
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita at 20: An Anthology of Louisiana Poetry and Art Edited by Mona Lisa Saloy and John Warner Smith This important work commemorates the 20th anniversaries of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita through the voices of Louisiana poets and artists, offering reflections on resilience, memory, and cultural survival. Dr. Saloy’s contributions continue to elevate the stories of our region and highlight the enduring strength of our community.
“As we mark 20 years since Hurricane Katrina, we remember the lives forever changed and the indelible mark the storm left on our university and our city. Dillard’s resilience is a testament to the strength of our community, our students, and our alumni who refused to let devastation define us. Today, we honor that legacy by continuing to ‘Dare to Dream’—building a future rooted in hope, perseverance, and a deep commitment to service.”

At Fair Dillard, we continue the work of building a stronger future for our students, our city, and our community.
