Dillard University wants its neighbors in the Gentilly community to know the institution is taking the reins to rebuild and renew the area. With the formation of the Community Development Corporation, Dillard University is taking an active role in revitalizing the Gentilly neighborhood.

This non-profit organization, led by Mr. Nick Harris in the Office of Institutional Advancement, has the daunting task of improving housing conditions and courting major stores and shops to the area.

Gentilly neighborhood associations representing Gentilly Heights East, Gentilly Heights Voscoville, Indian Village, Lower Gentilly, Oak Park, Sugarhill and Virgil Park are all involved in this collaboration. Area stakeholders, businesses and citizens are joining together in this important effort to revitalize an historic community.
