Founder’s Day Convocation

Among one of Dillard’s most treasured traditions is Founders’ Day Convocation which is held every fall. The University pauses to elebrate its rich past, from the founding of Straight University and New Orleans,
and its promising future.

To celebrate the past, we honor the extraordinary determination of bold leaders who dared to bring to fruition the hopes and dreams of a people through access to higher education. To celebrate the future, we honor Dillard’s continued recognition as a leader among higher education institutions.

On this special day, the senior class, administration and faculty dress in full regalia, and everyone enjoys words of inspiration and wisdom from a keynote speaker.

The 2023 Founders’ Day Convocation is scheduled for October 12 at 11 a.m. in Lawless Memorial Chapel. Return to this page for more information.
