NEW ORLEANS—Adrian Guy Anderson, Dillard University’s assistant vice president of development and alumni relations has announced that she will be moving on to future career opportunities. A 2001 alumna of Dillard, Anderson joined her alma mater as director of alumni relations in 2008.
“Adrian is an example of the ethical, courageous leader that Dillard cultivates,” said Dr. Rochelle L. Ford, president of Dillard. “We are proud of her contributions and we are excited in her entrepreneurial endeavors aimed at cultivating more diverse and inclusive leaders.”
“Although I’m a newcomer to the Dillard community, one thing that I learned, immediately, from Adrian, is that DU is truly in her heart. The University is so thankful for her service, and I know that she will continue to represent ‘Fair Dillard’ well in her future endeavors,” said Stephanie Rogers, executive vice president for institutional advancement.
“I built the alumni relations office from a foundation rooted in what I called the ‘3 Cs,’” said Anderson. “For me, it was about communication, celebration and cultivation; and I carried that same foundation into my role as AVP of development and alumni relations.”
During her time at Dillard, Anderson has maximized opportunities to strengthen the sense of community among alumni while increasing their engagement with students. During Anderson’s tenure, the University’s alumni giving rate rose from 4% to 23%, which was crucial to the establishment of several scholarships and securing of private grants. Along the way, Anderson also launched an annual alumni career symposium for students, grew the alumni office staff, conducted an alumni tour to key cities, and hosted an annual lunch and learn series to provide an intimate space for alumni to advise students on their career paths. She worked closely with the Dillard University National Alumni Association to establish new alumni chapters. She also started Dillard’s annual Alumni Awards, the 40 Under 40 recognition, and Alumni Servant Leader Honors which grew in popularity.
Anderson’s last day with Dillard is March 1. She will focus on building her consulting practice, AG Anderson Consulting, which focuses on helping individuals, teams and organizational partners advance their mission through coaching, team-building, leadership development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
