New Orleans, LA – January 8, 2025 – More than 30 local musicians will come together to perform at a free community concert in the wake of the New Year’s Day terrorist attack.
The event, hosted by Dillard University and the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation, will be held on Saturday, January 11, from 12 PM to 4 PM at Georges Auditorium, Dillard University, 2601 Gentilly Blvd.
This special gathering aims to provide solace, support, and resources to those affected by the tragic New Year’s Day event, while showcasing the healing power of New Orleans’ rich musical traditions.
“In the wake of this horrific tragedy, Dillard University is honored to host the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation for this worthy cause,” said Dr. Monique Guillory, President of Dillard University. “We have no doubt about the resilience of this city and our NOLA-strong communities, but it is important that we take a moment – this moment, and many more – to collectively support those who have been impacted by one more senseless act of violence.”
While the music and entertainment are free, attendees are encouraged to make donations to support those impacted by the attack.
“The terrorist event on New Year’s Day on Bourbon Street likely caused significant emotional and mental strain for victims, their families, and our entire community,” said Dr. Peggy Honoré, Board President of the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic & Assistance Foundation. “This concert serves as a way to not only bring people together but to provide access to professional mental health resources. It also demonstrates how music continues to sustain our culture through difficult times.”
Attendees can look forward to performances by a host of renowned local artists, including:
- Margie Perez
- Sharon Martin and First Take Band
- Naydja Cojoe
- Rechell Cook
- Terrence and The Fortress Band
- Kenneth Hagans Brass Band
- Philip Joseph
- Le Bon Ton Baby Dolls
…and many more!
The concert also will feature resources for mental health support and information on how residents can access assistance in the aftermath of the attack. The New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Dillard University will provide on-site guidance for attendees in need of professional services.
